Rejected!

My submission has again been rejected for the BP Portrait Award. From 2,377 entries, 55 works have been selected. I think it would have been a miracle! Guilt now takes over at money wasted.............especially with the bailiffs knocking at the door!

HERTFORD

I actually got to Hertford and had a thoroughly enjoyable day with the delectable Amanda modelling again. Where did the day go? In the blink of an eye I was home again!

Hertford

 Charcoal, 1 hr

Oil, 2hrs

Had a brilliant day with a new model, Amanda, who was young and buzzing with energy and quite delightful!

We had two 15min and half a dozen 30sec warm ups, which are a total disgrace and not for public scrutiny. I was happy enough with these two pieces, although, do you notice that I have concentrated on the head again? And she had a stunning figure....didn't we all at her age?

 then 1 hour.....

then after lunch Clifford kept the same pose all afternoon.

Brilliant day!

HAS

Woohoo! I can't believe I actually got to Hertford on Saturday. I haven't been since October, but where the heck have those five months gone! Needless to say I had a brilliant day. It started off disappointingly, when the promised 'new' model failed to show because she was unwell. Can't be helped and I wish her a speedy recovery. This was soon forgotten once we got started.
The warm up exercises were of Penny in her clothes while the place warmed up, then we had a few quick poses, only one of which is fit to be seen here!
Once I got the paint out I got into the swing of it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully it was the kick up the butt I need to get going in the studio!
Next month is Hertford Art Society Annual Open Exhibition hand in day......the best day of the year....where I get to stay and assist with the proceedings. Next life day then is in May!

HAS Life

Another glorious day at Hertford, where we did the usual thing of a few quick sketches, and then a longer pose in the afternoon. A big thank you to the two wonderful models.

HAS

I had a thoroughly wonderful day in Hertford. I tried to continue with the contour drawing, but got a bit lost I think. In too much of a hurry! I did spread the word though, with several others having a go, and my friend Stella Green, in particular, understanding immediately and producing some spectacular drawings. I do wish I had taken photographs of them.

Life drawing

I have had a fantastic day!  Life drawing, all day, with tuition from Peter Kavanagh. His enthusiasm got to me and I was inspired to do my best and work hard. And I am pleased with what I did.
Peter basically teaches to LOOK at what you are drawing and promotes contour drawing. Initially without looking at your paper and then an occasional look to get your bearings, then just draw, bearing in mind all you have learnt. I really hope I shall remember in future and not go back to drawing what I think I see!
